Mai Gatti in casa

In an apartment located in a building in the city center, undergoing a major restoration and renovation project, the original living area, once divided into separate rooms, has been transformed into a single space that extends from the entrance area all the way to the access point for the sleeping quarters.

The intervention aimed to create a large, contemporary open space that is bright and functional, capable of accommodating the various functions of daily life within one coherent and harmonious environment.

The result is an open, fluid space where each zone maintains its own identity while visually and functionally interacting with the others.

Entering the home, moving from one area to another, stepping out into the outdoor loggia, all offer different visual perspectives from every point within the space.

Light, color, and materials serve as the hinges that connect the various areas of the open space, which are unified by order, aesthetics, and functionality.

Location: Nova Milanese (MI). Italy

In the living area, the main wall features a custom-designed and engineered unit made of Corten steel and lacquered wood, with sliding panels created specifically for this project. It houses the television, books, decorative objects, hidden storage compartments, and a bioethanol fireplace.

This intervention radically transformed the layout and perception of the living room, making it the true heart of the home: an open, versatile space capable of meeting the needs of every family member.

The wooden flooring, a neutral warm gray color palette for ceilings and walls, the use of soft and continuous lighting combined with decorative and focused light points, all contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere, while respecting the uniqueness of each zone within the space.
