Il Rifugio del Moro Rosso
“A place to retreat in solitude and relax after a long day at work.”
This was the clients’ request, which we interpreted by designing a Shelter Home, conceived and built following the principles of Teylor’s design philosophy, which relies exclusively on low-impact materials and techniques and works with local craftsmen to reduce transportation costs.
In this oasis of physical and mental well-being, water — an element that soothes and purifies — could not be missing, with a pool that mirrors the surrounding vegetation, embracing and protecting the shelter.
Location: Lentate Sul Seveso (MB). Italy
A key feature of the project is the rectangular swimming pool, “protected” by a perimeter belt of bush-hammered yellow Istrian marble slabs.
The deliberately irregular shapes, recall the mark of a plow on cultivated land, a gesture we wanted to honor as a tribute to the historical memory of these places.
The Shelter Home was custom-built entirely in wood and is equipped with systems that operate only when needed.
It is a minimalist structure that fulfills all living functions, allowing guests to stay and dine both indoors and outdoors, thanks to the Bioclimatic Pergola that harnesses or mitigates solar exposure depending on the season.
The plant species were strategically placed so that the shade they create contributes to climate comfort.
Punctuating the new domestic landscape, agricultural tools and handcrafted objects emerge here and there, fragments of a rural past that our clients wished to preserve as a testament to their emotional bond with the place.
